Viv Gibson from Community Foster Care accepts the cheque from two members of the St John’s Lodge in Workington

The Freemasons came up trumps when Community Foster Care asked if they could help with a fundraising event.

The St John’s Lodge Workington donated a cheque for £205. They also offered the charity the use of the Masonic Hall in Gordon Street, Workington for the fundraiser on October 21 where there’ll be soup, sandwich and a singer, all for £7.50 per ticket.

Placement Support Worker Viv Gibson with Community Foster Care, based in Peart Road, Workington, accepted the cheque at the Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven.

The aim is to raise money which will be used by CFC to fund activities for looked-after children who might otherwise miss out.

The not-for-profit agency provides foster carers for children all over Cumbria.

There are more than 600 children in care in Cumbria.  Foster carers come from all walks of life and can be male or female, single, married or divorced. They must be over 25 and in generally good health.
