Community Foster Care will be taking part in a Home for Good event in Cumbria on Tuesday February 13.
The Home for Good team are hosting the evening, called ‘A Place for Everyone’, at Spring Mount Church, Abbey Road from 7.30-9.30pm.
They will explore how churches across the North West can help find a home for every child who needs one and how to support families who foster or adopt.
Community Foster Care, an independent foster care agency based in Workington, will be there to offer advice and information to anyone interested in fostering.
Registered Manager Emma Weaver said there are more than 600 children in care in Cumbria in desperate need of a stable home.
“We know there are people in Barrow who have thought about fostering but haven’t acted upon it,” she said.
“They may think they can’t foster but the opposite is usually true. There’s lots of training to get you started and loads of support every step of the way.”
She pointed out that children are in care through no fault of their own. “All they want is stability and people who will try and understand them,” she added.
Foster carers come from all walks of life and can be male or female, single, married or divorced. They must be over 25 and in generally good health.
