Anyone interested in fostering is welcome to find out more from Community Foster Care in Dunmail Park shopping centre, Workington on Thursday November 22.
Staff from the not-for-profit agency, based in Peart Road, Workington, will be there from 1pm until 4.30pm.
“Becoming a foster carer is rewarding and life-changing,” said Viv Gibson, Placement Support Worker with Community Foster Care which provides foster carers for children all over Cumbria.
“Many people think they can’t foster, but the opposite is often true. There’s lots of help and training to get you started and constant support along the way.
“Come and have a chat and we’ll be happy to provide all the info you need.”
There are more than 600 children in care in Cumbria. “Children are in care through no fault of their own. All they want is a safe place to call home and people who will try to understand them,” said Viv.
Foster carers come from all walks of life and can be male or female, single, married or divorced. They must be over 25 and in generally good health. Community Foster Care is an independent agency and a registered charity.
