Foster care info session, Barrow, February 7

23 January 2019 | CFC News

Up for a new challenge? Why not pop into Costa Coffee in Barrow on Thursday February 7 to find out about fostering.

Staff from Community Foster Care, an independent foster care agency based in Workington, will be at the coffee shop in Hindpool Retail Park from 11am-1pm to provide information and answer questions.

Registered Manager Emma Weaver said: “We know there are people in Barrow who have thought about fostering but haven’t acted upon it.

“They may think they can’t foster but the opposite is usually true. There’s lots of training to get you started and loads of support every step of the way.”

There are more than 600 children in care in Cumbria in desperate need of a stable home. Emma pointed out that children are in care through no fault of their own.  “All they want is stability and people who will try and understand them,” she added.

Foster carers come from all walks of life and can be male or female, single, married or divorced. They must be over 25 and in generally good health.
