Support Workers

Jo Garstang - Support Worker, Lancashire

Hi, my name is Jo Garstang.  I am a Support Worker, based in the Lancaster office.  I was a registered childminder for a while before joining CFC and before that I worked in the criminal justice system. My passion for working with children and young people came after I became a Mum to our little girl.  I love my job.  I enjoy working with the various ages of children and love a challenge.  I do direct work sessions with children and young people, and organise activity sessions with them during half term breaks.

Out of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I also love my bootcamp (gym) sessions too.

Vivian Gibson - Support Worker, Cumbria

Hi, I'm Viv and I work in the Cumbria Office as a Placement Support Worker, supporting the foster carers, young people and children in care. I work directly with the young people as well as arranging activities which take place mostly during the school holidays.

Gemma Nield - Support Worker, Gloucestershire

Hi! I’m Gemma, a Placement and Family Support Worker for CFC. After many years working in the Early Years sector, I wanted a new challenge and due to being a “people’s person” felt that this role was perfect! I spent 3 years studying early childhood at the University of Gloucestershire and my work really utilises the things I have learnt. I absolutely love getting to know all of the families that I work with, whilst using a friendly and understanding approach. I like to think that my relaxed and welcoming style of working encourages Young People and adults to feel comfortable with me. I feel truly lucky to love what I do!

Joe Tomkinson - Support Work Coordinator, Gloucestershire

Hello! I’m Joe and I joined CFC in December 2020. I am a qualified counsellor and I am currently training for an MA in Coaching and Positive Psychology. My background is in counselling and mentoring children and young people, project management for children and youth projects and therapeutic schools work including mental health leadership. I think working with children and young people is the best job EVER!

In my spare time I enjoy playing my guitar, riding my bike, listening to music and trail running!

Cally Williams - Support Worker, Wiltshire

My name is Cally and I'm a Placement Support Worker at CFC. I work directly supporting and organising activities with young people. I worked previously for Swindon’s Looked After Children Education Service for nine years and at a behavioural school for a year before joining CFC. I am based primarily in our Wootton Bassett office.
