CFC's summer outings went swimmingly

11 September 2014 | CFC News

Thanks to all the carers, children and staff who took part in our three summer outings.

Thirteen people went to Jungle Ropes at Lydiard Park with CFC’s placement support workers Gavin Worrall and Claire Neely. The smiles on the children’s faces when they completed the course said it all. Shame about the rain, but that didn’t stop the CFC spirit of adventure.

We had better luck with the weather when carers and young people visited Stratford Park and braved the outdoor pool. It was also lovely to celebrate one of the children’s 9th birthday.

Carers Emily Axford and Kim Salter kindly provided a fantastic birthday spread, and Nigel’s fish fritters were a hit. A special mention goes to Elaine Dent for braving the cold water twice and volunteering to jump back into the pool to retrieve Gavin’s football – our hero!

After a scavenger hunt, we congregated by the outdoor park and played ball games into the afternoon. The day ended with everyone enjoying a slice of delicious birthday cake which was so grand it resembled a wedding cake and tasted amazing.

Our final summer outing was a trip to Drayton Manor Park when a 49-strong contingent had a whale of a time. The sun came out as carers, young people and staff made their way around the park and queued for rides.

The younger ones enjoyed the rides in Thomas Land whilst the older ones headed for The Pirate Ship, Haunted House, Ben 10 (well done Jennie Boyce for overcoming your fears – your facial expressions were a picture!) and Pandemonium which became an obligatory staff ride.

Thanks everyone for helping to make the summer such a success.
