Barbie at Country Park was a sizzler

Community Foster Care’s annual barbecue went with a banger when dozens of people turned up at Keynes Country Park near Cirencester.
The event, held this year on 6 August, has become a bit of a tradition when CFC staff cook for the carers as a way of saying thank you for all their hard work over the past year. It is also a chance for us to all come together in a relaxed environment.
The previous day had seen heavy rain so we were fortunate that the sun decided to make an appearance. We had a good turnout from carers, young people and staff, with 32 adults and 23 young people in all.
Mark Goulding (SSW), Lyn Taylor (Office Manager) and Phil Doig (carer) showed off their culinary skills by cooking burgers, sausages and a vegetarian selection which were washed down with a selection of fruit juices and water.

Dessert was a selection of cakes and ice cream which carer Janet Smith kindly organised for us.
The young people and some of the carers were kept entertained with a sports day themed activity including an egg and spoon race, hungry hippos and rounders. There was also face painting for the younger ones.
The BBQ was a great success and we have already received positive feedback from carers saying what a great day it was. The highlight of the day was Mark trying to get the BBQ going - well done Mark, you got there in the end!
