Mick - Senior Supervising Social Worker, Gloucester

After gaining my qualification in Social Work at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education in 2000, I worked for Gloucestershire County Council in a fieldwork team before spending a year working for a homeless project for 16 to 21 year olds in Cheltenham.

After this, I moved into fostering and have been a Fostering Social Worker for the last 21 years both in the independent sector and most recently with South Gloucestershire.

During the time since qualifying I completed the foundation and intermediate years in family therapy at Bristol University. I was also lucky enough to train with Dan Hughes 10 years ago. I had been aware of his DDP therapeutic model since 2006 and feel blessed to have trained with him at Family Futures in London. I have been referencing my knowledge of his therapeutic approach in various fostering related activities since then.

In my spare time, I am usually found playing music and occasionally perform live gigs if time allows with extended family. Guitar playing has been my passion since my teenage years.
