Connecting Local Children With Local Families in Lancaster

Community Foster Care was built on the belief that local communities should be at the heart of fostering and 30 years on, we still firmly believe this. With the support of local people like you, we can continue changing children’s lives, right here where you live.

Putting the Community at the Heart of Foster Care

We’ve been part of Lancaster since 2012, with a local office and team at the heart of the city.

Our approach is simple: local families, caring for local children, with the support they need to thrive.

We’re a small, Outstanding-rated fostering agency with big ideas - committed to doing things differently, using evidence-based practice and strong relationships to make a real difference for children and carers.

Help Keep Local Children Local

We are still firm in our mission to help keep local children local by empowering residents in Lancaster to recognise their potential as a foster carer. Could this be you?

What are we looking for from our foster carers?

  • Share our values and commitment to making a difference

  • Have a spare room (or rooms)

  • Be open to feedback and willing to reflect and learn

  • Work well with others, including professionals supporting the child

  • Be resilient, patient, and able to keep going through challenges

  • Have experience of caring for, or working with, children or young people

  • Be committed to learning and growing in the role

“I used to work in schools and saw so many children in desperate need of stability and a safe place to call home. Witnessing that on a daily basis made me think that if I felt that strongly, maybe I could do something about it.”
