Kerrie & Justin
Hi, we’re Justin and Kerrie McEvoy. We have been planned break foster carers since 2023. Fostering has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and we’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly amazing and inspirational young people. It’s been a pleasure to support them, watch them grow in confidence, and make a positive difference in their lives. We feel very fortunate to be part of their journey and look forward to continuing to provide a safe, caring, and welcoming home for the young people we support.
Kerrie & Justin are regular presenters at our monthly Meet Our Carer events, sharing their experiences with potential foster carers, so if you sign up to one of our session you may get a chance to hear directly from them about how they came to be foster carers and what it’s been like since they joined CFC. But if you can’t wait until then, we get the inside scoop on their life as carers:
What inspired you to explore fostering?
I [Kerrie] work with vulnerable children and I was aware that there was a huge need for more foster carers.
What took you by surprise when you started fostering?
How resilient and inspiring the children are who come into the care system and how supportive CFC were to us as a family.
What do children most like about staying with you?
They are all individual characters and I feel that having them stay with us has improved me as a person.
How does fostering fit around your other responsibilities?
I work full time hence why I am a planned break foster carer.
If someone reading this is sitting at home thinking about fostering but isn't sure they're the right person, what would you say to them?
Contact CFC and have a chat with them.
