Activities For Families & Children

Community Foster Care holds many activities for foster carers and their families throughout the year. These are organised by our placement support workers following consultation with children and young people, as well as foster carers and their birth children.

All family activities are funded by Community Foster Care. Sometimes we ask families to meet us at venues, if local, but for other trips that are a distance away, a coach will be arranged.

All activities take into account the age and needs of the children so not all trips will be appropriate for every family but overall everyone will be offered an activity suitable for them.

Community Foster Care has placement support workers in both the North and the South teams, so activities may vary between these areas.

In the North we take our children to the local Ten Pin Bowling Centre and to Stanwix Holiday Park at Silloth to go swimming. Annually the South group goes to Drayton Manor, holds an Easter egg hunt, Halloween party, BBQ and Consultation Day. In addition, ice skating, bowling, paintballing are sometimes arranged by both offices.

Both North and South teams have participation groups where the young people meet regularly with their placement support workers to help plan activities for the year. They are given the opportunity to voice their opinions towards improving the agency for the benefit of the children and their carers.
