Jen - Support Worker, Lancashire
My name is Jen, and I am the Family Support Worker for Community Foster Care North.
Following completion of my Psychology and Health and School Care Qualifications; I began my career working in a nursery in London when I was 18
Since then, I have worked in a Special Educational Needs School and 3 Form Primary School supporting 1-1 and small groups of young people with their social, emotional and mental health.
I have also managed my own Ofsted Registered Good Childcare Business and worked with the Community Health Visiting team as a Healthy Family Practitioner.
I have continued to study and develop my knowledge of children, young people and their families by completing Care Certificates and Neuroscience studies and therapeutic training programmes.
I have a passion for supporting children and young people to express themselves, develop confidence and self-esteem by planning and developing engaging and exciting activities that provide opportunities for each individual to feel listened to and valued.
Within my Family Support role at Community Foster Care, I hope to use my knowledge and experience to help support our families and young people build positive lasting relationships.
Outside of work, I enjoy keeping fit, spending time with my 3 older children and Dalmatian Dog called Ralph. We like to get out and about on countryside walks, exploring and try new activities like paddleboarding!
