Vera - Team Manager, Lancashire

Hello, my name is Vera, and I am a Team Manager in the North and have been undertaking this role since September 2025.   Part of my role is to act as the panel advisor for all fostering panels.   I attend each panel and provide guidance and support where needed.  I also will be supporting in developing training and support to panel members in 2026. 

I have been a qualified Social Worker since 2003 after graduating from Lancaster University.  I had previously been a qualified nurse working with people who had a learning disability.  I qualified as a nurse whilst working in a large institution which has now closed and then moved into community work.

My social work career started in child protection, and I progressed from a social worker to a senior manager.  I have worked in fostering for around 12 years.  I am passionate about ensuring that all children receive good care and support, and foster carer are crucial in providing this.  I appreciate the difficult and rewarding role that foster carers have and understand the challenges that this brings.
