Welcome

Photo of child and parentWelcome to Community Foster Care (CFC), an independent fostering agency and also a charity and social enterprise providing high quality, safe and supportive care for children in a family environment.

Providing placements in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon and West Cumbria our dedicated foster carers work extremely hard to make sure that our children receive the very best care and their life choices and chances are enhanced by continually monitoring their outcomes and putting in additional support where necessary.

Whether you are a prospective foster carer seeking more information or a local authority wishing to look at the services we have to offer, our website will give you a good insight into fostering with our charity. We will also keep you up to date with all our latest news, job opportunities and other services we have to offer. Look at Becky's Blog to see what is happening this month.

We are recruiting foster carers in all our regions - did you know you can earn up to £23,500pa per child?  The tax office have simplified the procedure and for one child there is very little tax to pay and we can give you more information on this.  The payment is made up of weekly fees and allowances so there is an element for yourself for doing the task, there are allowances towards the upkeep of your house i.e. insurance, heating, lighting, water etc., and then allowances for the child i.e. clothing, leisure activities, mileage and food.  A foster carer can be approved for up to three children but they do need a room of their own unless they are siblings and able to share based on their age and development.  Do get in touch with us if you want to know more.  We are a foster care service that feels like a large family and as a community we support each other.

Partnership working - CFC is working in partnership with Young Gloucestershire who provide activities for the foster carers, their birth children and fostered children supported also by Gloucestershire County Council.  The activities are aimed at improving self esteem and confidence for the children and young people and they have enjoyed a variety of activities including pamper treatment (girls); go karting; toboganning at Milton Keynes Snowdome as well as outings to Legoland and the Black Country Museum.  You can learn more about Young Gloucestershire by going to their website www.youngglos.org.uk.

Awards: Community Foster Care's Chief Executive Becky Pearson has been nominated for the Business Woman of the Year category of the Citizen & Echo Women in Business Awards 2012.  Last year Becky was a finalist in this category and is delighted to be considered for this award for a second time.  The Citizen & Echo sent a photographer to Community Foster Care on 16th January to take photos of Becky and the team.
